Hello DIS Families,

Get the Scoop

The Delran Middle and HS PTA is hosting a “get a scoop” event at the Meadows on Monday night from 6:00-9:00.  Parents will have an opportunity to meet our new superintendent, Dr. Brotschul and the candidates for the Board of Education.

Common Core Information

The NJ Department of Education has prepared some informational documents to help parents better understand the Common Core. These documents have been uploaded and can be found on the Delran Township School district’s homepage under both the Parents and Curriculum tabs.

Make Up Pictures

If you would like your child’s picture retaken, please be sure to return the entire package on make-up picture day, which is Tuesday, October 27th. If your child did not have their individual picture taken and you would like their picture to be taken, information is available in the Delran main office.

FASTT Math

In a separate email, you will be receiving information from Mrs. DeVicaris, our math supervisor, about the FASTT Math program.  This email also contains answers to some Frequently Asked Questions that have been brought to our attention the past few weeks.  Starting Monday, we will resume our expectation that students complete three sessions / week, on average, by the end of the trimester.   If you are having difficulty logging into the program, please let me know so I can assist.

Red Ribbon Week Thank You

Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers, who helped supervise our students, at our Student versus Staff Basketball game. With a score of 10 to 13, our staff won this year’s competition. Throughout the week, our students participated in the various dress themes and listened to messages that reinforced making healthy choices.

Halloween Information

Information about Halloween has been sent out in the Friday Focus for the last two weeks, and can be found on our website under the Parents Tab. We will be sending an email out on Wednesday with additional information about the day’s plans. Please note the parade begins sharply at 10:30 and only visitors with passes for the day will be permitted to enter the building.

PTA Info

 Reflections

PTA Reflections Program is here again.  This year’s theme is “The world would be a better place if…”  For those of you not familiar with Reflections, it is a National PTA program that allows students to express themselves creatively.  There are six categories in which the students can enter: literature; musical composition; photography; visual arts; dance choreography and film/video production.  They are judged in five divisions: Primary (Preschool-2 grade) Intermediate (grade 3-5) Middle-Junior (grade 6-8) and Senior (9-12) Special Arts (non-graded). This is for students who meet the guidelines of the American Disabilities Act.)

Each entry must be the work of ONE student. Students may submit multiple entries.  All entries are due November 20th.  All participants will receive a free snack coupon to be used in the cafeteria.  All entries will be judged at the local level.  Local winners will receive a prize from the Elementary PTA.   Winning entries will also move onto county level judging. County winners move forward to the state level and state winners to the national level.

There is information, complete set of rules for each category and entry forms in the Virtual Backpack- October.
