5/15/15

Hello DIS Families,

iWatches

With the recent introduction of the iWatch, we wanted to clarify the guidance for students that may have these devices. It is strongly recommended that they are not worn or brought to school. Given the level of activity during recess and gym, students could easily damage these devices- it has already happened to one device. As with our eReaders, any devices on the can actively access the internet must be turned into airplane mode. Students may only use these devices to access reading materials or tell the time. Cell phones, and other devices with calling and texting features, must be turned off. Cell phones are required to be kept in student’s backpacks during the day.

 School Supplies

Once again, we are offering parents the opportunity to purchase school supplies for the 2015-2016 school year. The supplies are delivered to the school and will be in your child’s classroom on the 1st day of school for them. Our supply list is standardized and additional supplies are not requested (although you may need to replenish something if it runs out). The costs are comparable to purchasing the same items at local stores at regular price. We offer this service strictly as a convenience. PLEASE NOTE: Due to delivery constraints, parents will NOT be able to pick up these supplies prior to the first day.

Pretzel Sale

We will be having a pretzel sale on Wednesday to benefit Roots and Shoots. Pretzel may be purchased for $0.75. Please send the money in no later than Tuesday if you wish to purchase pretzels for your student.

DATE CHANGE: 6th Grade Parent Meeting

On June 3rd from 7-8pm in the DMS Cafeteria, Mrs. Medina and Mr. Miller will be hosting an informational session for parents of rising sixth grade students. There will be a two-hour daytime orientation, tour and information session for students in late August. During our parent orientation you will meet the DMS Principal Mr. Miller, Assistant Principal Mrs. Medina, Guidance Counselors Mrs. Stipa and Mr. DeNick and our School Nurse Mrs. NiCastro. The goal will be to welcome you to our learning community, share our goals and philosophy, advise you of our policies, answer your questions, allay your apprehensions, and just generally ease your family’s transition to the exciting middle school years.

 PTA Info

We have many positions open for next year and welcome both new members and returning volunteers.  Please contact Tara Porreca at [email protected] if you're interested in helping out in any way.  The backbone of the PTA is our parent volunteers!

Please join us this Monday 5/18 at 7:30 in the Millbridge Cafeteria for our last meeting of the school year and a presentation by the Burlington County Library on their summer reading program.  It's a great opportunity to find out more about the PTA.
